Most common mistake is to give someone else control of your twitter account, it is your persona, your brand, your experience. You love your brand and people pick up on it.

Talk, share and like trends. Speak about your product and services with other professionals and brand that most represent your field. Ask questions in relation to your field of expertise and give your opinion. Its like standing in a busy square full of people that are talking to each other about different things, find out who’s talking to whom about what and join in! If you keep yourself up to date and bring value to the conversation you can only increase interest and followers.

Do not resort to unusual tactics, it penalises you on the long run and doesn’t generate any actual results.
